President Refshaw called meeting to order
Board members present: Mark Meurer, Zach Meinders, Scott Woolen, Kayla Inbody, and Nicole Jessen
Some members present in person and some on google meet.
Secretary report:
Scott gave minutes of May board meeting, Lila Schmidt made motion to accept minutes.
Treasurers report:
Jeremy gave report, beginning balance: $41,525.55 -1,146.23 for expenses and deposits of $773.
Motion was made to accept and second the report.
Sale committee:
NSIP online ram and ewe sale is done and Spencer NSIP sale is tomorrow the 25th.
Newsletter committee:
Bev would like all info for the newsletter to her by September 21st.
Ad committee:
Nothing to report
Youth committee:
Adelyn was presented with her award for being the 2026 starter flock award winner. Adelyn gave a thank you to the association.
Finance committee:
Audit is due in January.
New business:
- Honor Todd Taylor for being 2026 APSA honoree and give plaque to commemorate. Jeremy read the info submitted by Glen Jones, who nominated Todd. Todd gave a talk and thanked the association for the honor.
- Ballots counted–1 ballot was returned, 1 vote for Bryce and 1 vote for Scott. These are your two new members. Scott was reelected for a second consecutive term and Bryce is elected back after being off for a bit. Jeremy thanked Mark for all his work on the board in the past.
Old business:
New logo, if any member wants to submit an idea or design please do so.
OPEN FLOOR TO ALL:
- There was some conversation on how the NSIP sale in Spencer came to be and how long some members have been involved in NSIP.
- Scott Bowdridge from West Virginia University gave an update on what his team has been doing for testing and research. They do a lot of traveling all over the country to accomplish this. He also mentioned that they are still wanting to get 3,000 polypay blood samples.
- Kayla had a question for the membership–is there any interest in a National sale?
- It was also noted that as of right now the Polypay breed has the second most number of animals entered in NSIP.
